Falzarego Pass: Our journey begins at Falzarego Pass, a beautiful spot that serves as a gateway to several incredible destinations. Located just a half-hour drive from Gardena Pass, Falzarego Pass fascinates visitors with its scenic beauty. As you approach the pass, you’ll encounter various parking spots nestled among the mountains. I recommend sticking with ¨Passo Falzarego, 7 Parking¨.
Lagazuoi: Standing tall as the highest refuge in the Dolomites, Lagazuoi offers an elevated experience like no other. Situated at an impressive altitude of approximately 2,752 meters (9,029 feet), this superb peak provides very dramatic views that will leave you speechless.
At Lagazuoi Refuge, not only can you indulge in delicious food and soak in the breathtaking views, but you’ll also have access to a myriad of hiking trails. With a dozen well-marked trails available, ranging in difficulty and length, there’s something for every adventurer to enjoy.
Rifugio Nuvolou: Start your hike from Falzarego Pass and follow the scenic hiking trail that takes you to Rifugio Nuvolou. This trek allows you to witness the ever-changing beauty of the Dolomites, offering stunning views at every step. You will come across a Averau Hut, located at an elevation of 2,413 meters – its a great little spot for a coffe or a hot meal. Upon reaching Rifugio Nuvolou, sitting at an impressive altitude of approximately 2,575 meters, prepare to be amazed by the breathtaking panoramic views.
Cinque Torri: To make this more fun, I suggest taking an alternate route when returning from Rifugio Nuvolou. Instead of retracing your steps, walk to the right as you will get to see the iconic Cinque Torri peaks up close.
Following the trail, you’ll eventually find your way back to the parking area, completing a beautiful loop through the forest.
